Why do I home school? #7. Attentiveness
Disclaimer: I cannot take credit for the list of character traits. When we began home schooling I used Konos, which is a unit study curriculum where everything we studied revolved around a character trait.
Our first trait was attentiveness: listening closely and watching carefully. We learned that we hear with our ears, the anatomy of the ear, how sound waves work, that musical instruments make sound waves, the different instruments that are in an orchestra and about Beethoven. It all pointed back to our brilliant Creator who created the intricate anatomy of the ear, who designed sound waves, who gave inspiration and talent to musicians. It was and still is an exciting way to learn about God and the world around us. We also read about how Jesus was attentive to his Father's voice and how we can do the same. And isn't beautiful and comforting to the know that creator of the world is also attentive to you!?!
Proverbs 4:20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.
