Why do I home school? #16. History

The author of our history curriculum, Mrs. Linda Hobar who wrote The Mystery of History has been at the Teach Them Diligently conference for the past two years. My kids think she is awesome! She really is a kind lady and her history curriculum is great. It's chronological, written as though she is speaking to us, and points us back to God continually.

Every session she taught at the conference my kids chose to sit in the front row and listen attentively to every word she said. Every time they saw her in the hall or conference room they had to say hello. She even made an effort to remember their names! Can you imagine how hard that would be with all the thousands of people she meets in a year?! When she said she remembered them from last year, they were so excited! She even signed next year's history book and addressed it directly to them. Can I just tell you how much easier it is to do history when my kids have met the author???

"Mrs. Linda wrote this. We've met her! It's so cool."

What a beautiful earthly example of a spiritual truth. When we encounter the author of the Bible, the creator of the universe, who knows us by name, it makes having a relationship with Jesus come alive and be filled with joy! I love that the Lord continually points us back to Him in all of the subjects we study!
